Rift of Redemption

Release Date: June 4 2025

Firstly, I would like to commend the author for their efforts. As a fellow author, I understand the challenges associated with both writing and publishing a book. Thus, reaching the stage of publication is an achievement in itself. Nonetheless, while I appreciate the genre and intent of the book, I must indicate that it could benefit from further refinement.
The editing was subpar. A particularly notable issue was the repeated use of the term "knobbed," which I assume was meant to be "nodded" within the context of the narrative.
Additionally, the character development was insufficient. There was a lack of backstory, resulting in characters that felt abruptly introduced. This left me grappling with their relevance to the overarching narrative.
The narrative structure resembled a stream of consciousness rather than a meticulously planned endeavor—more akin to a "pantser" approach than a "plotter." If an outline existed, it appeared poorly constructed. I was unable to discern whether it adhered to the Hero's Journey, the Three-Act structure, or an organic progression.
In my assessment, the writing style was somewhat staccato and disjointed. The narrative lacked a cohesive flow, resulting in a sense of confusion between the story beats.
As a first effort, the work leaves much to be desired. I endeavored to engage with it; however, I found it challenging to become invested.
I do not wish to discourage the author, but perhaps in future projects, they might consider developing a more structured outline, engaging an editor, and reviewing the manuscript for narrative flow after its completion.
